ワールド・ビジョン・ジャパンでの1年の働きが終わろうとしています。私は日本のスポンサーとチャイルドの間に、素晴らしいつながりがあると信じています。

これまでの数カ月間、多くのプロジェクトの現場を訪れ、コミュニティのチャイルドに会う機会があり、私は「あなたの目と耳」となる特権を与えられました。思い返すとこの一年は、神さまから与えられたギフトであったと確信しています。

ワールド・ビジョン・ジャパンは、過酷で遠方の貧しい地域で働きをしています。

ですが、今年アフリカを訪問した際、子どもたちにとっての 「希望の島」をたくさん見てきました。多くの困難があるにも関わらず、子どもたちは明日への希望を持っていました。子どもたちの中には、今一度夢を描き、私を満面の笑みで迎えてくれる子もいました。

子どもたちが希望をもつ理由は、ただ、「村に新しい校舎ができた」「新しい井戸ができた」「保健改善や農業の支援が始まった」ということだけではありません。

彼らが希望を持つことができるのは、遠く離れた誰も見たことのない「日本」という国に、彼らのことを心配し気にかけ、愛してくれる「誰か」がいるということを知っているからです。そして、その「誰か」とは、「あなた」のことなのです。

私は以前、「スポンサーの皆さまはいったい、毎月何を与えてくださっているのか」と考えていました。しかし、答えは私が参加した最初のワールド・ビジョン・カフェで見つかりました。

スポンサーの皆さまは、ただチャイルドたちのことを「心配し、気にかけ、愛してくださっている」のです。毎回、チャイルドにプレゼントを送るとき、手紙を書くとき、その「心配し、気にかけ、愛してくださっている」という気持ちを表現していらっしゃったのです。

ですから、親愛なるスポンサーの皆さま、ワールド・ビジョン・ジャパンの一員として皆さまのことを誇りに思い、心から敬意を表します。

皆さまは、

― 私たちが子どもに手を差し伸べることを支えてくださっています。

― さざ波のように広がっていく変化の最初の一滴です。このコミュニティにおける変化は今後何代にもわたって続いていくことでしょう。
― 子どもと夢の架け橋です。
― ジグソーパズルの最後の1ピースです。皆さまなしでは、美しいパズルを完成させることはできません。
― 子どもの人生の礎の一部です。

Dear Friend of World Vision Japan,

Soon, I will complete a year of my tenure in WV Japan and one of the amazing relationships that I now believe in – is that between you – our Sponsor and your sponsored child.

Through these past months, I had the unique privilege of being ‘ your eyes and ears’ as I visited the field and visited many children in their communities. As I look back, it is surely a gift of GOD.

World Vision Japan is working in some of the toughest, remote and backward places and during my travel to many African countries this year, I have seen ‘islands of hope” for the children. Inspite of many challenges, the children have something to hope for – tomorrow. Some of them have begun to dream again and welcomed me with big smiles.

The reason is not just the new school building, new water pumps or new projects for Health and Food Security in their village – the reason is that they understand that someone far away, in a country they have never seen called Japan, someone cares about them – that someone is YOU.

I used to think,” what makes you give” – sincerely every month? and I found the answer during my first WV cafe with some Sponsors – It is simply because you CARE. So, every time,you give, every time you write a letter, you are just expressing that.

So, I salute you, dear Sponsor and as part of World Vision Japan we are proud of you.
You are helping us to reach out to these children
You are initiating a Ripple Effect that will impact these communities for generations.
You are the bridge between a child and his / her dream
You are the final piece of the jigsaw puzzle, which completes the picture and makes it beautiful.
You are part of the foundation that we are laying in these children’s lives.
